AVENUE ROAD PUBLIC

HOME OF THE LIONS

Avenue Road Public School first opened its doors to students in 1960. The school is located just off of Avenue Road, which made choosing the name an easy decision. Since 1960, we have had two additions, one in 1963 and the second in 1980. A third addition was completed in September and we kept our grade 6 students who head into grade 7. We are also fortunate to receive grade 7 students from both Manchester Public School and Elgin Street Public School (non-French Immersion). We have All Day/Everyday Kindergarten and as of September of 2013, are now a JK to grade 8 school.

Avenue Road is a wonderful school with the different cultures we have here along with the abudance of energy. Our focus is that all children can learn and that is witnessed on a daily basis in every classroom. We strive as a school to continually seek improvement from our students and staff alike. Character Education is also something we place a great emphasis on. Our focus incorporates things like, intramurals and clubs to allow our students leadership opportunities and a feeling of community.

Another fabulous aspect of our community is our parents. Our Parent Nights, skating races, track and field day are well attended and supportive to our students as is our annual school picnic in late June. Families gather on our front lawn for enjoyment and a feeling of community which makes for a wonderful day.

With all that, this is a fabulous school that is accepting and positive in it’s view. We continually strive to improve and will continue to do so.
